“Spirituality means to me what a basketball means to a basketball player. Spirituality calls me to seek truth, question all, and doubt some things. It means being intune with onself, knowing one's self, and being aware of where you 'are.' Spirituality, you'll see, will call you into uncomfortable places, it will challenge your beliefs and it will casue you to pray. It's the door I open when Jesus Knocks.”

“Spirituality to me is engaging in the reality we cannot see. When we pause from the status quo and attempt to appreciate the deeper meaning that undergirds everything.”

“Spirituality is a concept that helps us attempt to describe that which we truly are. It describes the path and the fruits of the path to our True Nature and the living of this into the world in a way that is uniquely meaningful and useful.”

"To me, spirituality is being, behaving, acting, thinking, feeling, KNOWING that one is in God's loving arms. It is very hard for me to stay in that place.......But I believe that living from that kind of faith, i.e., knowing one is in God's arms, is the antidote to an ego-driven life."

“Spirituality is allowing the moments to hear and listen to the still small voice of candor and generosity -- and it is creating the space for that still small voice to grow stronger.”

“Spirituality is not complicated—dogma is. Is one kind, loving, forgiving, tolerant? Is one thoughtful of others, of service to others? As we say in AA: ‘Keep it Simple.’”

“Spirituality is at the core of who we are. It is experienced in the greater or lesser degrees by each of us according to how close we dare to be our most authentic inner selves. Some moments of extreme joy or pain drive us quickly and deeply into our inner core realities. Most of all for me, spirituality is paying close attention to these moments as they occur in my life, in the lives of people around me and in the local and global communities in which I live. Understanding this I realize that paying attention to life can offer stormy seas which easily throw off my compass. Returning to that 'Still Harbor' within is essential for me to counter feeling overwhelmed and then to be able to act mercifully to myself and others. Often the return is a journey with support by my community. Spirituality is knowing that this solitary journey does not have to be done alone."

“To me, spirituality means seeking the face of God, living my journey each day in God's presence, and fashioning a life of holiness appropriate to God's presence. It involves an interior core, and of necessity, has an external expression in this very real, very broken and very sacred world. It must be about the Intangible as it is found and lived out in our own lives.

To me, spirituality means taking care of mind, body, and spirit, through individual and group practices. I think its a little bit different for each person, but for me its trying to do yoga every day, trying to meditate a few times a week, trying to eat healthy and exercise, trying to remember my mantra throughout the day, and most importantly being a good person.

It seems to me as if some consider that religion or spirituality *own* goodness. To me, religion and spirituality are two tools (among many) that enable some people to reach where they need/want to go or find what they need/want to find. Even in all its many forms, spirituality doesn't need to be the tool for everyone.

Spirituality to me means becoming still enough to see the world as it truly is and then embracing that world, yourself, and others with curiosity, compassion, love, and patience.
